RAUB: The Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah celebrated his 77th birthday with schoolchildren from throughout the state yesterday. Teachers and parents also filled the school hall and many more stood along the corridors to get a better view of the Sultan. Upon his arrival, the Sultan was greeted by the schoolchildren who were dressed in colourful attires. The programme included a pantomime. The event ended with the students singing a birthday song. Present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and state education director Abdul Aziz Abdul Latiff. Earlier in his speech, Sultan Ahamad Shah urged teachers and parents to ensure that the younger generation did not lose their identity, especially in the fast-moving world of information and communications technology. "The ICT world is moving ahead rapidly. "Therefore, it is important that we make sure the younger generation does not easily get carried away as this could tarnish our culture." Back to Main Menu |
